Abstrakt
This article presents an analysis of children’s economic and labour rights from the perspective of childhood studies framed by the children’s rights agenda. It explores the complex interrelations between multiple protection systems, including the interface between universal human rights and specific children’s rights, as well as the intersection of economic, social, and labour rights within ethical considerations. Central to the discussion are the lived experiences of working children and their organisations across diverse social settings, with particular emphasis on the rights they prioritise as fundamental. The paper also examines the extent to which these rights are implemented in both international and national legal frameworks, underscoring the importance of acknowledging children as full participants in socio-economic life. In closing, the authors identify key challenges in safeguarding children’s economic rights, highlighting significant gaps and obstacles in the practical enforcement of existing legal provisions.
