AUTHOR'S AND REVIEWER'S GUIDELINES

We kindly ask all the authors submitting their manuscripts to provide detailed information including their name and surname, academic degree, affiliation address, ORCID number, and e-mail address that can be included with the published text, as well as contact information, which will be used by the editors only.

Manuscripts should be submitted to: przegladhumanistyczny@uw.edu.pl. Please provide the above-mentioned information in the form, which can be found here.

 

REVIEW GUIDELINES

The review process in the journal “Humanities Review” is compliant with the instructions issued by the Polish Ministry of Higher Education. By submitting their manuscript, the Author agrees on the following procedure of assessment:

1. The Editorial Board carries out a preliminary assessment of the form and content of the manuscript.

2. If the preliminary assessment is positive, the Editorial Board transfers the anonymized text to at least two external reviewers, who do not have any conflict of interests with the Author, for the purposes of obtaining a written assessment (double-blind review). The reviewers declare that they shall not use or disclose any information concerning the manuscript under review prior to its publication.

3. Following the reviewers’ conclusions, the Editorial Board decides whether to publish the manuscript. The positive decision is conditional upon the Author making the modifications suggested by the Editorial Board on the basis of their own opinion and the reviewers’ comments.

4. The accepted text is edited as regards to its content and language correctness.

5. The list of our reviewers is published in the last issue of each year.

SCIENTIFIC RELIABILITY GUIDELINES

Authors are kindly requested to adhere to the template of the article's first page.

The Author submitting a co-written manuscript has to state the contributions made by particular Authors (including their affiliation address and the level of the contribution, i.e. information on the authorship of the concept, assumptions, methods, protocols, etc. used during the preparation of the manuscript).

The Publisher reminds the Authors that ghostwriting and guest authorship are treated as scientific misconduct and that all detected cases shall be disclosed, which will include sending a notification to the relevant authorities, such as institutions employing the Authors, scientific societies, associations of scientific editors, etc.

The Editorial Board uses the plagiarism checker software iThenticate.

The author is obliged to provide information on any funding sources for the publication and any contribution of research and scholarly institutions, associations, and other entities funding the Author’s research. The Author is fully responsible for the accuracy of the data provided.

 

HOW TO PREPARE YOUR MANUSCRIPT

We kindly ask the Authors to include with the manuscript a reference list (consistent with the following sample entry), a short (700 characters maximum) abstract in Polish and English, a list of keywords in English, and the author’s declaration that the text has not been published nor has it been forwarded to be published in another journal or collection.

If the manuscript contains visual materials (e.g. photographs or illustrations):

  • Please mark the places in the text where the illustrations with accompanying descriptions should be placed.

  • Visual materials should be sent as separate files (jpg, tiff) with the highest resolution  available (min. 300 dpi).

  • The file title should include the Author’s name and the number used to mark the illustration’s location in the manuscript.

  • Obtaining the copyrights for the visual materials is the responsibility of the Author.

The printed version is the reference version of the journal. Issues are published also in the digital format.

Please comply with the following rules while preparing your manuscript:

  • The article should not exceed 40.000 characters including spaces; the review should not exceed 10.000 characters including spaces.

  • Titles of books, chapters, and articles, as well as foreign words should be in italics.

  • Titles of journals and quotations should be in quotation marks.

References

The reference should unambiguously refer to the work cited.

The reference should include: the author’s name and surname; the title (in italics); the place of publication;
the publisher; the year of publication; the page referred to. A reference to an article from a journal: the author’s name and surname;
the title (in italics); the name of the journal (in quotation marks); the year of publication; the issue; the page.
A reference to an online source: the author’s name and surname; the title (in italics); retrieved from: (place, path, file name); date of access [dd/mm/yyyy].
When referring to a translation, include the abbreviation “trans.” and the translator’s name and surname after the title. When referring to a work that is cited in a previous reference, write “Ibid., p.”
When referring to a work by the same author mentioned in a previous reference, write “idem” instead of the author’s name and surname. When referring to a work with a full bibliographical reference mentioned in a previous reference, provide only a shortened version of the title after the author’s name and surname.

Please do not use Harvard Referencing System.

Journal does not request any article submission, processing, review and publication charges.

Due to our review process, you shall wait for a decision concerning a publication of your manuscript at least 4 months.

The author of the published text shall receive an electronic version of the text and a copy of the issue.

The Editorial Secretary, acting on behalf and upon the authorisation of the Editorial Board members, corresponds with authors and reviewers. 

The final decision about forwarding the text for review or its publication is made by the Chief Editor.

Unsolicited manuscripts are not returned.
