Abstract

The subject of this review is the book 'Kryzys narracji i inne eseje' containing Polish translations of three essays by Byung-Chul Han. Considerations regarding the content of this collection are preceded by the context of the author’s life and the phenomenon of his popularity on the international market, outside of the academia. The review analyses the structure of the book; the ideas contained in the third essay are considered of key importance for the interpretation of the two preceding texts. The problems of the crisis of community and the challenges faced by democracy are considered through Han’s diagnoses of digital media and the decline of narrative ability. The summary examines the changes that digitalisation introduces to the concept of disenchantment of the world.
