Abstract
The article contains an analysis of the figure of a witch in various popular culture texts, which are based on the fairy tale Hansel and Gretel by Wilhelm and Jacob Grimm. The text refers to the phenomenon of fairy pop culture and industry. Images of fairy tale witches are, in fact, directly related to the processes and trends occurring in popular culture, fulfilling at the same time mainly entertaining function. A multitude of portraits of witches reveals various tastes of readers and models of reception of the fairy tale re-narration, as well as constant attempts of authors whose intention is to present a brand new version of the well-known fairy tale. They employ specific concretization of the fairy tale, prequels and sequels, parodic treatments, or use fantasy or aesthetics conventions of New Adventure Cinema.
