Zombie sociologicus – filmy o żywych trupach jako artystyczne narzędzie krytyki społecznej

Abstrakt

Since the beginning of the new millennium zombie cinema has become part of popular culture. In our times the figure of the zombie constitutes an important topic not only for the fans and critics of horror art, but also for a wide audience of people who are professionally and academically involved in the analysis of contemporary cinema. The popularity of this subspecies of horror cinema demands an interdisciplinary analytical approach in order to portray its multidimensional message and possibilities of interpretation. In the present article I tried to sketch the historical development and the sociological dimension of zombie cinema as a critique of contemporary western culture and social life.
